How Jim Elliot Schools changes lives
Students experience it
-
I am allowed to ask questions, to be challenged, to be my own person. I get to use my God-given qualities
for the benefit of others.
The most incredible part is the relationship with teachers and other students. It is not the stereotypical relationship.
When I first got here, I was rude and mean. Now that I have been here for more than a year, I am more respectful and willing to listen and learn.
When I started going here in 7th grade, I was terrified... But as soon as I started to get to know the teachers, I started to feel safe and loved. All the teachers really care about the students. This school goes beyond being an academic place -- it is a community with amazing people who help and truly love each other. There is no other place like this. I love this school!
Parents see it
A school is measured by the product.
My daughter is in college and has been well prepared for the secular
college of her choice. She has gotten involved in a Christ-centered
organization there. She is thriving.
They grow with the Lord, and learn a heart for
missions. It's not all about academics, but in addition, it is about
God, life, relationships and servitude. Teachers are still mentoring
my daughter even though she is off to college.
Our family has had students at JECS for almost ten years. We like the small student/teacher ratio. The mentoring program has had a tremendous impact on our sons. The teachers have spent time with the boys outside of school and continue to keep in touch with them after graduation. The relationships they have built here will continue for a long time. The teachers are great, and teach the kids to think.
My son has had a great experience at JECS. One of the things I have really like is that he became a good basketball player. He had a good coach and had the opportunity to play and get better than he had been before. He also got to be part of the drama, which is one of the strengths of the school.
Alumni live it
JES taught me the fundamentals that now go
into my life - characteristics of good leadership, the founding of
friendships, the endless possibilities opened because of caring teachers,
the importance of missions, and the necessity of servanthood.
Without these truths my life would be considerably different. JES
changed my life for the better. It lifted me up in the hard times,
encouraged me to grow near to God, and is there for me even today.
JES taught me not to be just a successful person, but
to live 100% for Him.
